The historic market town of Beverley in the East Riding of Yorkshire has been a centre of musical excellence since medieval times. The Minster and St. Mary's Church, two of Britain's most magnificent ecclesiastical buildings, house countless carvings of musicians and the medieval Guild of Minstrels was based in Beverley.
The Beverley Chamber Choir was formed in 1998 to give established and experienced singers an opportunity to meet and perform regularly together as a choir. It has rapidly built up an enviable reputation and has performed very successfully in the cathedrals of Ripon, Worcester, Sheffield and Wells as well as York Minster, Malvern Priory, Beverley Minster and Hull City Hall.
The choir gives its annual Christmas concert in Beverley Minster and every Good Friday performs a Requiem in St Mary's Church. It calls on its own orchestra when necessary.
The choir is available, given reasonable notice, to give concerts performing a wide variety of music ranging from medieval plainsong to McCartney!
The choir's first CD "Exultate Justi", was recorded in Beverley Minster and has received widespread critical acclaim. This disc may be purchased from Alan Binnington (tel. 01482 882748) priced £9.99 (+ 50p p+p). Email
