The founder and musical director of the Beverley Chamber Choir is Alan Binnington. Alan was educated at Beverley Grammar School and learned much of his music as a chorister and songman at Beverley Minster. He was awarded a Choral Scholarship to Clare College, Cambridge and the performers diploma from the Royal College of Music. He was appointed to St. Mary's Church, Beverley, as organist and choirmaster in 1985. Having retired from full-time education he remains active as an organist, accompanist and conductor in the East Riding.
